The Gredos Ibex is the largest and darkest trophy among the 4 subspecies of Spain.
Its particular shape of the lyre-shaped horns and its pronounced curvature make it unmistakable and majestic.
It always inhabits the highest rocky areas where it can detect danger with ease, cautious and with extremely acute senses, in which they receive from them a true mountain hunt.
Males usually go in groups most of the year, except during the rut time in the males they become lonely and competitive among them, showing a unique spectacle with their particular fights.
The nearest airport is Madrid, at 1.30 hours by car from the hunting area.
Hunting areas are private, located in the best areas of the Sierra de Gredos, between the provinces of Ávila and Cáceres, with geography of granite rocks and rugged steep. We will hunt between 4900 fts and 8200 fts above sea level.
In the rut time and in the spring, it will be when we have more opportunities to find adult males and sea in groups or old lonely males.
Season: From August to June.
Accommodation and gastronomy
Located in the Sierra de Gredos we will stay in a nice lodge within the same hunting area or in 4 to 5 stars mountain hotels where we can enjoy the gastronomy and products of the land (revolt potatoes, T-bone steak, Ávila, cheeses and excellent olive oil) evidently accompanying it with a good wine or beer.
