Pyrenean Chamois
The hunt of this animal and its appeal in high mountain, makes it the jewel of the Pyrenean mountains being a dream hunt. The hard-to-access rocky habitat, the altitude and the inclement weather in high mountain make this game one of the most uncertain and suffered in any type of stalking. Chamois hunting is, for us, one of the most beautiful and rewarding hunts.
The characteristics of the Pyrenean chamois are: Shoulder height 29-30 inches (74-76 cm). Weight 55-90 pounds (25-41 kg).
Our hunting areas
Our hunting areas are located in the best places of the Pyrenees between France and Spain. These areas are managed during years, so that nowadays hunting is 100% guaranteed.
The hunting method will always be stalking the animal. We have easy access areas. But we also have areas for more experienced hunters. All the hunting areas are private and managed for years. We have more than 74 000 acres (30,000 hectares) located at 2.5 hours from Barcelona Airport, three hours from Toulouse Airport and six hours from Madrid Airport.
Pyrenean Chamois Hunting season
The best dates to hunt an old Pyrenean Chamois, are during the rut, from mid-October to the end of November. It is then when the old chamois leave the more wooded areas and go in search of the females. Spring is also a suitable season for hunting this animal. They are looking for the first fresh shoots and even going down to the mountain plantings, after the long winter in the summits.
